Star San is a high foaming, acid-based, no-rinse sanitizer that is effective and easy to use. It is self-foaming, which helps to penetrate cracks and crevices, odorless, flavorless, biodegradable and environmentally friendly.
Star San will not harm septic systems.
It reduces water spotting and can be used without rinsing when used at the recommended dilution.
Don't fear the foam ;)

  1. Thoroughly clean surfaces with PBW or compatible cleaner.
  2. Mix 1 oz. Star San for every 5 gal. of water.
  3. Apply on surface with cloth, mop, sponge, spray, or immersion.
  4. If using spray application, use a coarse mist, pump, or trigger sprayer and spray 6-8 inches from surface and follow up with a brush or sponge.
  5. Allow for contact time of at least 1-2 minutes.
  6. Drain, but do not rinse.

Why is my Star San cloudy?

Cloudiness in Star San may be because it is over a year old or because of hard water minerals reacting to the chemical.

How long is Star San good for once it’s mixed into a solution?

Kept in a sealed container, a Star San solution at the correct dilution rate will stay effective for as long as three to four weeks. If diluted with distilled water, it will remain effective for longer (months). Star San solution remains effective so long as it's pH is 3 or lower.

Can I use Star San to sanitize my pets accessories?

No, Star San is hazardous to animals.

Is Star San septic safe?

Yes, but when disposing of the chemical you will want to have the water running to ensure that it is heavily diluted. Once the bottle is empty have the water run for another minute or two.

What is the dilution ratio?

1 oz. of Star San to 5 gallons of water.
