The Saphir hop is a German aromatic variety developed by the Hüll research center. It follows the tradition of noble hops while bringing a more modern and slightly fruity touch.
Although sharing some traits with Hallertau Mittelfrüh, Saphir stands out with a more expressive and delicately fruity profile. It offers refined floral notes, hints of citrus (lemon, mandarin), as well as a subtle spicy and herbal touch. Its natural balance and gentle bitterness make it an excellent choice as a dual-purpose hop, especially suited for pale lagers, modern pilsners, and elegant European beers.
Aroma: Floral, citrus, herbal, lightly spicy
Substitute:Hallertau Mittelfrüh, Tettnanger, Spalt
